Depo Transcript Fundamentals + ASR Scoping
This 15-hour package is available for 30 days upon enrollment. This package offers both Depo Transcript Fundamentals and ASR Mastery: Scoping & Proofing courses. Learn how to format deposition transcripts and master the skills required to scope effectively on any platform. This course does not cover federal formatting requirements required for AAERT exams.
This course will provide general formatting rules for creating a transcript for depositions and other non-court legal proceedings. The general rules in this course can be applied when transcribing the majority of state cases. Students learn important legal and industry terminology. Students will learn to work within customer-driven specifications, such as a style guide and a template.
This course also demonstrates how ASR can increase a transcriptionist’s productivity. Students will learn to navigate and overcome the challenges of scoping ASR-produced first drafts. Scoping is the act of editing the first draft (i.e., a rough transcript) against the audio captured during a legal proceeding. This course will prepare you with best practices for scoping ASR-produced drafts to more easily catch errors and produce accurate transcripts. This course does not provide training for software or equipment, ensuring a streamlined focus on scoping techniques and productivity enhancement. This course does NOT cover the federal formatting required for AAERT certification.
- Equipment Requirements: MS Word, CAT software, or other word processors and a transcription audio player.
- Equipment Suggestions: A foot pedal (e.g., Infinity) compatible with your audio player and transcription headphones.
- Pre-Requisites: This course is intended for students who have experience working as a legal transcriptionist or who have already taken English, grammar, and punctuation and basic transcription courses.
